Official Court Reporter - Columbia/Montour Counties

The 26th Judicial District, Columbia and Montour Counties, has an opening for a full time position, 37.5 hours per week.  The starting salary is $37,850, additional income is earned by processing requested transcripts.  There is a benefit package included.  Reporters are to use a stenotype machine to type verbatim testimony in a variety of court proceedings.  Experience is preferred but not required.  Other work includes transcribing, proofreading and producing court orders and transcripts in a timely manner as well as responsibility for exhibits.  Knowledge of English grammar, attention to detail and accuracy with an expected typing ability of words per minute of 180 literary, 200 jury charge and 225 two voice question and answer.  A letter of interest, resume and three references should be sent to the following:

Official Court Reporter - Mercer County

Mercer County has an opening for a Court Reporter. This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week.  The salary range is $34,481.00 to a top end of $48,352.00.  Additional income is earned by processing court orders and transcripts.  Starting salary is dependent upon experience.  There is a comprehensive benefit package included.  An RPR status is preferred, but not required.  Mercer County pays for required continuing education as well as association memberships. A Steno writer, laptop, and Case CATalyst software are also provided by Mercer County.

Official Court Reporter – Cambria County

This 35-hour-per-week position has a starting hourly pay rate of $30.52 with additional income earned by transcript/order production.  Duties require the use of a stenotype machine to accurately take down verbatim testimony in a variety of court proceedings.  Qualified applicants must have graduated from an accredited court reporting school.  Two years of stenographic experience is preferred, but not required.  Other duties include, but are not limited to, attending scheduled court proceedings; transcribing, proofreading, and producing transcripts and court orders in a timely manner; as well as handling exhibits and other official documents, and swearing in witnesses. 

Writer, software, software support, IT support, and all other equipment are provided.  Professional association fees and approved continuing education requirement costs are paid by the County.   Benefits include paid holidays, paid time off, retirement plan, and medical/dental/vision coverage.  The County offers a buyout if medical coverage is not needed.
